FAQ

Questions people ask before trusting a salary calculator.

Is TakeHomeMeter exact?

No. It is a planning estimate. Your actual withholding and final tax liability can differ because of credits, benefits, dependents, deductions, local taxes and employer payroll settings.

Do you store my salary?

No. This version performs the calculation in your browser and does not send or store your salary in a database.

Why are some states marked “coming soon”?

State tax systems differ substantially. We only enable a state after its calculation logic is implemented rather than applying a generic rate that could mislead users.

Does the hourly calculator assume 40 hours per week?

It starts at 40, but you can change the weekly hours. Annual gross pay is hourly rate × weekly hours × 52.
